About Pavo Podo®Care

During its first months of life, a foal needs a lot of building blocks for a healthy bone development. But it is of utmost importance that these substances are available in the right quantaties. Too much of one mineral or too little of another can lead to disorders, such as OC or OCD. If the quantities are  incorrect, the intake of the required minerals can be impaired.

Pavo PodoCare: minerals in the right ratio

Pavo PodoCare contains the minerals phosphorus, magnesium, calcium and vitamin D to support optimum growth of the bone tissue. Specifically, phosphorus and magnesium are the key for a healthy bone build-up. People often incorrectly assume that foals need extra calcium, however, this is abundantly present in the mare’s milk and in the roughage. Based on the latest scientific research, the ratio of minerals in Pavo PodoCare are carefully tailored to the foal’s requirements. The product does not contain wheat, so it is suitable for a gluten-free diet.

Feeding advice Pavo PodoCare

Try to make the foal eat Pavo PodoCare from as young an age as possible. At four to six weeks, foals usually try eating solid food, usually by eating from their mothers’ feed bowls. It is recommended to teach them to eat independently from a young age, by offering them their own separate feed bowl at a small distance from the mare.

Pavo PodoCare now also available in paste form!

Does your young foal not yet eat pellets? In addition to pellets, Pavo PodoCare is now also available in paste form: Pavo PodoCare Liquid. By giving your foal 1 syringe of Pavo PodoCare Liquid per day, you make sure that your young foal takes in all the important minerals that support optimum bone growth!

Frequently asked questions

How to increase the fertility of the mare?
A

To increase the fertility of the mare, a balanced and optimized feeding is requested.

Magnesium
The risk of a non-disposal of the afterbirth increases in case of deficiency of magnesium in the diet. From research on roughage we know, that the energy content is lower than the years before. Also the level of minerals is lower than expected. In most cases calcium and phosphorus are covered in combination with additional feed, but magnesium is not covered. This is the reason for the high magnesium content in Pavo Podo Lac.

Vitamin E (and Selenium)
Both are very important for a good fertility. A high level of vitamin E in the fodder is necessary for a good detachment of the placenta.

Increase fertility:
Be sure that all the mares which need to get pregnant get as much (day-) light as possible. Keep on the lights in the stable until 11 p.m.
Give the mare enough possibility to move so that the uterus can clean itself. Take care of a healthy and balanced diet. Create a clean, quiet and stressless atmosphere in the stable.

What are the differences compared to other feeds for mares?
A

The greatest difference is the amount, the ratio and the absorption ability of vitamins, minerals, trace elements and aminoacids. In particular, compare the vitamin-e level. In addition, the trace elements are bound organically, which increases the ability of absorption and availability of trace elements.

Pavo Podo®Lac meets the needs of the mare: The fodder needs change, especially during the last three months of gestation and the first two months of lactation.
